Introduction

Whenever you would like to create a large set of assets, it’s easier to use the excel import function described in this article. You can only import alle values for one “Assignment state“ per import, so you have to create a single Excel file for every “Assignment state“.

Step 1 - Excel file

In the first step you need to create an excel. You have to create as many rows as the amount of attributes that are assigned to this “Asset type”

The rows mustn’t have the same name as the Attributes. You will do the references (Attribute → Excel row) in a later step.

If you want to import values, which should already have an existing assignment, you have to create an row with an identifier for the object with the assignment. For example the SID for an active directory identity.

  • Row for the values for attribute 1

  • Row for the values for attribute 2

Now fill in all values for the attributes in the specified row you just created before.

Example:

Telephone number

Offerer

+41 79 888 77 87

Swisscom

+41 79 777 88 78

Sunrise

Step 2 - Import

In this step we have to define what we want to import an from where. So fill in the following information for the import:

  • Asset Type; Asset Type

  • Asset Group; From which asset group should the import be

  • Upload; Excel File

  • Assignment state; Free, assigned, external assigned

  • Attribute 1; References on the row of the excel sheet

  • Attribute 2; References on the row of the excel sheet

  • …..

If you filled in every information above, you are ready to start the import.
