Whenever you would like to create a large set of assets Assets, it’s easier to use the excel import function described in this article. You can only import alle all values for one “Assignment state“ per import, so you have to create a single Excel file for every “Assignment state“. In this manual we will show, how to import the data for the asset attributes. For this we take the attributes TelephoneNumber and Carrier as an example.

Step 1 - Excel file

In the first step you need to create an excel file. You have to create as many rows columns as the amount of attributes Attributes that are assigned to this “Asset type”configured for this asset type.

Info

The rows mustn’t columns do not need to have the same name as the Attributesattributes. You will do the references (Attribute reference them (attribute → Excel rowcolumn) in a later step.

If you want to import values, which should already have an existing assignment, you have to create an row a column with an identifier for the object with the assignment. For example the SID for an active directory identity.

  • Row Column for the values for attribute 1 TelephoneNumberRow

  • Column for the values for attribute 2 Carrier

Now fill in all the values for the attributes in the specified row column you just created before.

Example:

Telephone number

OffererCarrier

+41 79 888 77 87

Swisscom

+41 79 777 88 78

Sunrise

...

In this step we have to define what we want to import an and from where. So . We have to execute this step in the Web GUI. Navigate to the asset, in which you want to import the data, in the “Asset Management“. Open it by clicking on the asset.
